
Amigos del Mar, a Culinary Event to Recognize Sustainable Fishing
As part of a continued commitment to environmental stewardship, Fairmont Mayakoba will be hosting a very special culinary event on Saturday, August 5th. The “Amigos del Mar” or “Friends of the Sea” dinner is designed to raise awareness and support for the sustainability of the oceans and to benefit sustainable fishing. While the bounty of the sea may seem limitless, it cannot be guaranteed without proper conservation programs that maintain the long-term health of our oceans and safeguard fish populations for future generations.

This special gastronomic event has been organized with the help of the Mexican Council for the Promotion of Fishery and Aquaculture Products (Comepesca), a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of sustainable seafood and fishing practices. The event will also be supported by local seafood producers whose efforts have been critical to protecting the diverse fish and seafood populations of Mexico’s waters.
The “Amigos del Mar” dinner will feature Fairmont Mayakoba’s Executive Chef in collaboration with Mayakoba’s surrounding properties as well as local seafood providers in this gastronomic celebration of the sea. Together, they will prepare some of the most creative seafood dishes imaginable. The specially curated menu will feature the freshest local catches blended with an array of unique ingredients that will make each dish a memorable dining experience.

There will be nine unique food stations (along with one food station for non-seafood eaters and children) and two indulgent dessert stations created by Mayakoba’s four pastry chefs. There will also be four beverage stations including a Zapote Bar, wine station, beer station and mezcal station. All stations will also serve natural and mineral waters.
