An hour to unite for the planet.

Earth Hour 2023 will take place this March 25. This environmental event or campaign was launched by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to raise awareness of the problems facing the planet with respect to climate change.

What is WWF?

WWF World Wildlife Fund is the world’s leading global conservation fund for nature. This independent organization is one of the largest and most respected in the world for its specialized approach to preserving biodiversity and achieving sustainable development.

In order to achieve its goals through environmental campaigns and motivating people to do their bit, WWF focuses on six priority issues: Oceans, Wildlife, Water, Forests, Food and last but not least, Climate.

Why is it important to participate in Earth Hour?

The concept encourages people to turn off all lights and non-essential electronic devices for one hour to save energy and thereby minimize greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition to the positive effect this event has on protecting the planet, it also symbolizes a moment to show that everyone is capable of making a difference in the fight against climate change.

Fairmont Mayakoba joining the cause.

At Fairmont Mayakoba we value the Earth’s resources and consider sustainability as one of our top priorities. Therefore, this Saturday, March 25, between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. we will be turning off our non-essential lights as we have done in previous years.

We are very proud to participate in this annual event and to be able to invite both our guests and heartists to be part of this campaign.

Motivating people to take care of the planet through actions like this creates a community willing to preserve our world.
