How to take care of The Earth on its day?
On April 22nd we celebrate Earth Day, and we want to invite you to reflect on the importance of caring for and preserving our planet. At Fairmont Mayakoba, we are committed to sustainability and work every day to protect the environment around us.
Why is this important to us?
Because the Riviera Maya is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world, and we want to make sure it stays that way for generations to come. In addition, as a luxury hotel, we have a responsibility to lead the way toward more sustainable practices in our industry as we have done for the past several years. At Fairmont Mayakoba, we have an extensive sustainability program that includes social and environmental issues, from a coral reef restoration program in front of our beaches, to water, energy, emissions, waste and wildlife control programs.
But sustainability is not just about reducing waste and emissions. It is also about creating awareness through environmental education of our colleagues and guests, transmitting the importance of taking care of our planet Earth. That is why we offer activities such as nature trail hikes, snorkeling through the restoration sites and activities at the Kids Club so that our guests can learn about nature and how to protect it. We also have a training program and activities such as reforestations and clean-up brigades with our beloved Heartists.
This Earth Day, we invite everyone to reflect on our relationship with nature and how we can do our part to protect it. From small actions like turning off lights when we don’t need them, to choosing hotels and companies that care about the environment, each of us can make a difference.
