Winter is such a lovely time of the year. Family gatherings, delicious food, nice cold weather that goes with your cute boots and winter clothes. It couldn’t be any better. And as we leave 2021 and COVID behind, it has left us thinking about how much we take care our ourselves and our body? What changes can we make to our routine to make it healthier? How can we improve our lifestyle?
Fortunately, we have come to our senses and realized it’s time to make some changes. Whether we have to exercise more, eat healthier, or practice a discipline that can bring harmony between our mind and body. You name it, 2022 has been defined as the year of W E L L N E S S.
And what is wellness?
Wellness is the act of being conscious that there is a connection between spirit and body and that it needs to be nourished so that instead of just surviving, you’re thriving. Wellness can also mean something different at every stage of life, it’s primarily supported through habits of eating, physical activity, pampering our body, and quality sleep that lead to positive health outcomes.
And sure, you are now wondering what changes can you make. So don’t sweat it; here some healthy beauty tips for a new year, new you:
Eat less sugar.
The less sugar you eat, the better. Insulin, a key hormone in aging, develops when we raise our blood sugar levels, so after the excesses of the holidays, eat a lot of vegetables. At least two-thirds of the food on your plate should be vegetables which will also provide a lot of fiber and antioxidants.
Tea for youth!
Drink green or white tea without sugar. They are rich in antioxidants and excellent for the skin so that we can reduce or eliminate the intake of fruit juices.
The charm of exfoliation.
There is nothing like starting the year with renewed skin, and exfoliation is ideal for removing dead cells and removing sebum & dirt from our skin, leaving it soft and smooth. At Willow Stream Spa, we have a new personalized exfoliation where you can choose from 3 ingredients to achieve the maximum benefit on your skin. Have you tried it?
Dry your hair like a pro.
The most common mistake we make when drying our hair at home is directing the air from the dryer upwards against the hairline, as it lifts the cuticle and creates static. Make sure to keep the hot air down from roots to ends, this will smooth the cuticle, and your hair will look shinier.
Jump rope for 5 minutes when you can’t do your workout. You can do it anywhere, at any time, even if you don’t have one! The routine is simple: jump 60 seconds and rest 30 until you reach five minutes.
