The Magic of Holidays at the Fairmont Boutique
Gift giving is a Christian tradition practiced worldwide, but this practice is not exclusive to Christianity. However, the tradition extended long before the founding of this religion. It starts with the Ancient Romans’ festivals called Saturnalia.
During this festival, thanks were given to the bounty provided by the agricultural god Saturn from December 17th to 23rd. They were celebrated with a sacrifice and a public banquet, followed by a private gift-giving.
