VIVA MEXICO ! VIVA FAIRMONT MAYAKOBA !
SEPTEMBER THE PATRIOTIC MONTH
The anniversary of Mexico’s independence is celebrated every year on September 16th. This date is a day to celebrate but also to remember the fight made by their ancestors in order to become an independent country.

ABOUT THE STORY
In this national celebration the Mexican people usually give “el grito” in the National Palace or in the Zócalo square in Mexico City, although it is also celebrated in each municipality of the state.
“El grito” is a symbolic act representative of the cry of pains, given at the time by the priest Miguel Hidalgo followed by the chimes that marked the beginning of Mexico’s war of independence.
Its history tells that in 1800 the conspiracy was born in the city of Queretaro being this city recognized as the cradle of independence in order to rise against the Spanish viceroyalty and it was until the dawn of September 16th, 1810 that the war of independence began with the already explained “cry of pains”.
After 11 years of fighting for its values, Mexico was proclaimed an independent country.

This date is considered one of the most important dates in the history of Mexico.
